About
A bright room for good games
Gornitsa makes calm, fair and clear games for RuStore, built on Russian culture — games you want to come back to, like the bright room where guests were welcomed.
“A house is beautiful not for its corners, but for its pies.” A Russian proverb we keep in mind when deciding what to add to a game
Where the name comes from
In a Russian peasant house, the gornitsa was the clean, bright room where guests were welcomed. That is how we want every game to feel: light, tidy and clear, with nobody trying to reach into the guest’s pocket.
We make board games and backgammon, a role-playing game based on Russian fairy tales and epics, a cross-stitch colouring game and a doctor simulator. Every game comes out on RuStore first, for affordable Android phones, and we support it ourselves.
What we believe in
Five values
Honesty
We don’t deceive players about rules, randomness or money. A bot is a bot, an ad is an ad, a trial is a trial.
Calm
A game is a rest, not a second job. It doesn’t rush you, punish a missed day or call you back with notifications. Five minutes is enough.
Respect
For your time, money, data and phone. Our games work offline, on affordable Android phones, and never ask you to sign up.
Craft
Rules follow the official code, tales follow published editions, medicine follows clinical guidelines. We draw pictures in code or take them from the public domain; we don’t use image generators.
Care
We support every game we release: we answer emails, read reviews and fix what gets in the way of playing.
What we promise players
Nine promises
We read about two thousand reviews of games on RuStore. The most common complaints are rigged randomness, ads in the middle of play, paying for power and forced sign-up. Here is what we promise instead, in all our games.
-
Fair randomness
Tiles and dice favour neither the bot nor those who pay. Where chance decides a game against a person, you can check it afterwards.
-
Money doesn’t buy wins
You can pay for a game, its expansions, removing ads or a new look, but never for an edge over another person. No loot boxes, no bets, no currency for money.
-
Play without a connection
Playing a bot, two players on one phone, a single-player campaign — everything that doesn’t need a server works offline.
-
No sign-up
No email, phone number, password or social login. A nickname is enough to play online.
-
Ads don’t get in the way
Most of our games have no ads at all. Where there are ads, they appear only between games and can be turned off for good with one purchase.
-
No pressure
No energy, no waiting timers, no daily rewards, no countdown offers. Missing a day costs you nothing.
-
A bot is always a bot
A bot never pretends to be a person. You always know who you are playing against.
-
We don’t collect extra
Our server in Russia keeps only what online play needs. No third-party analytics, and any data is deleted on request. Details are in the privacy policy.
-
Real answers
An email to support gets a reply about your game and your problem, not a “your request has been registered” template.
What you won’t find here
- Gambling, bets or playing for money.
- Ads that interrupt a game.
- Clones of other games or characters from other people’s cartoons.
- Pictures from image generators or facts written “from memory”.
- Questions about you beyond what the game needs to work.
The rules the studio works by are public: the Gornitsa charter on GitHub (in Russian). How the studio looks is on the brand book page.
